You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
This is one of my favorite Hendrix instrumental tunes, ‘Pali Gap’, played with footage from the movie Rainbow Bridge (Hawaii circa 1970). Jimi himself was a large part of the film about spiritual awakening, mainly due to the fact that his manager, Mike Jeffery, was one of its primary financial contributors. Whether fans of his music or not, few people have the gumption to deny Jimi’s cultural contributions to the zeitgeist of the world at this stage in time. Although he will undoubtedly be remembered by many for his notorious habit of using drugs, it is vitally important that his creativity, message to love, and mastery of his instrument are not soon forgotten. To quote Jimi, “I’m the one that has to die when it’s time for me to die, so let me live my life, the way I want to.“
